Basic Skincare Favorites
This week is all about skin! Today I'm going to be sharing my favorite skincare products. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I'm really trying to simplify my skincare routine and incorporate products that are as natural as possible. For maximum skin nourishment.
Also, please make sure you test any products before incorporating them into your routine. I have pretty resilient skin meaning I don't have sensitive skin. If you do, do some research and see how these products will affect you.
Let's get started!
Yes, I shave my face and I'll tell you why YOU should too! Let's be real here, I'm sure I'm not the only one, I have alot of thin black & peach fuzz on my face. So using these has helped me exfoliate my face and get rid of that annoying facial hair.
These nifty little shavers are amazing. I like to use them on dry/clean skin and go to town shaving my entire face. It's not complicated at all, they aren't built like men's razors so you don't have to worry about nicking yourself and you really can't mess it up.
2. Rosehip Oil
I've been on a journey trying to get my skin in check. To give you some back story, I've suffered from acne on & off throughout my teenage years and into adulthood (ugh, it's a true pain in the ass!).
This oil (which is a recommendation from the queen of oils & all things healthy living, Lauryn at The Skinny Confidential) has changed my face game. I was looking for a more natural moisturizer and boy did I find it in this amazing oil. Not only does it help with moisturizing, it also helps reduce scarring (from pimples), wrinkle but also looks great under makeup!
So this may or may not be considered skincare but in my book it does and let me tell you why. Rosewater itself has really healing properties (anti-inflammatory, reduce the redness of irritated skin, get rid of acne, dermatitis and eczema & more) and amazing in itself but then you add glycerin and that's when you really up the anti.
I spray this on as a makeup setting spray because it makes foundation (powder & liquid) just blend in flawlessly. When I'm going for an extra dewy look, I spray and let it soak into my skin. If I want a more "natural" dewy look, I pat my beauty blender and it gives you the best finish. You need to try it!
If you haven't already been hassled to wear SPF, I'm going to do it here as well. Wear SPF!! It's just the best thing you could do for your skin, protect it from the harmful UVA & UVB rays. I aim to use sunscreens that only contain Zinc Oxide & Titanium Oxide. Why? Because they aren't absorbed into the skin like commercial brands, they actually create a barrier between your skin and the sun's rays.
5. Good Ol' Lipbalm
My lips are always chapped and only a year ago did I figure out that I need to drink lots of water & apply moisturizing chap-stick everyday. I've tried all kinds of lipbalm but hands down, the only one that has worked for me is the Sprouts Vanilla Coconut lipbalm. If you don't have a Sprouts near you, pick up any of the Nivea lipbalm they are good but aren't as natural.
What are your skincare favorites? I love to experiment with new products!
